There are lots of things to see and do in this extraordinary medieval town. So much is missed during a brief stop on a single day trip, or a transfer from Prague to Vienna, Salzburg or Passau.  To begin, a tour of the castle, second only to Prague Castle in grandeur. The first tour in the morning is typically an uncrowded and unhurried stroll through castle chambers with a guide who is still fresh and engaging. As the day warms there will be an opportunity to take a leisurely raft ride around the town, visit the gardens, or wander the shop filled streets.



A whole day also means a chance to explore the narrow streets at night after the bus tours have departed, and enjoy some warm refreshment beside the river, below the impressive Renaissance tower. And finally, a full day to explore other historic towns and castles in the same vicinity, but otherwise overlooked due to lack of time.
